PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (Sept. 11, 2019) - After a scoreless first half of soccer at Ravenhill Field Wednesday (Sept. 11), the Queens College men's soccer team sprung to life in the second half and claimed a 2-0 victory against Jefferson University in non-conference action.
The Knights improve to 2-1 on the young season with the win while Jefferson falls to 0-3 for the 2019 campaign.
Knights That Shined
- The first strike for Queens came just three minutes into the second half of play as Paul Hayes headed home a gorgeous free-kick off the foot of Adrian Garcia, with the attempt sneaking just under the crossbar.
- QC's insurance marker came in the 73rd minute of play thanks to a loose ball scramble that found Erik Hernandez launching a 30-yard rainbow over the outstretched keeper to give the Knights the 2-0 lead and the win.
- Kevin Quituizaca had five shots on the afternoon and led the team with four targets while Cristian Villalta accumulated three shots and two targets in the win.
- Despite a 13-11 margin in shots favoring the Knights, goalkeeper Marek Strzelczyk was untested over ninety minutes and did not have to make a single save in net.
