ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (Apr. 12, 2019) - Despite being two-hit in the first game of a doubleheader with Molloy Friday (Apr. 12), the Queens College softball team bounced back to shut down the Lions' offense in the nightcap with a 3-0 win at Bob Klein Field in Rockville Centre. The Knights (4-21, 2-12 ECC) lost a 4-0 decision in the opening contest to Molloy.
Danielle D'Angelo and
Gabriella Vicidomini had the only hits in the opening game against Molloy starter Courtney Greene. Meanwhile,
Allie Stanya was tagged for all four runs in her three-and-two-thirds innings of work while recording three strikeouts.
Emma Wimmer pitched shutout ball over the final two-and-one-thirds innings; lead-off hitter Alex Burns went 4-for-4 in the win for Molloy with a triple, three singles and an RBI.
Wimmer tossed a complete-game four-hitter in the second contest of the day with five strikeouts to earn the victory as Queens pounded eight hits against Molloy starter Jenna Turato and the Lions' bullpen.
Nicole Michaels went 3-for-3 in the No. 9 spot in the lineup for QC as
Jessica Hickey had two hits including a two-run double in the sixth inning to ice the win for the Knights.
Queens will host Bridgeport on Saturday (Apr. 13) at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. at the QC Softball Complex in Flushing.
