FLUSHING, N.Y. (Mar. 6, 2019) - The Queens College men's tennis team came out of the gates on fire as the Knights picked up all nine match victories on their way to a 7-0 victory over Adelphi on Wednesday (Mar. 6) at the QC Tennis Center.
Queens (2-3) kicked off the match on a high by claiming the doubles point, sweeping all three tandems.
Kareem Rashad and
Richard Sec claimed a 6-1 victory in second-doubles against Connor Dove and Finn Krause, with the top-tandem of
Cosme Jubera and
Lucas Demuth earning a 6-2 triumph against Pietro Sole and Sabin Saveluc to clinch the point.
Camilo Arias and Nick Volos completed the sweep with a 6-4 win at third-doubles against Luke Attride-Stirling and David Robles.
In singles play,
Jose Zurro's 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 4 put the Knights ahead by a 2-0 margin. Jubera rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win on Saveluc at the first flight to get QC one point away from a win which came moments later as Sec handled Robles (6-1, 6-2) at third-singles to earn the overall victory.
Stanislas Bedrune had a 6-1, 6-0 win at sixth-singles with
Mariano Biblioni knocking off David Leader at fifth-singles by a 6-2, 6-2 margin to get Queens a win away from the sweep. Rashad fought at second-singles with Attride-Stirling, but the Knights' rookie prevailed with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph.
Queens will continue its season on Friday (Mar. 8) with a 6 p.m. contest versus Le Moyne at the QC Tennis Center.
