MIAMI SHORES, Fla. (Mar. 15, 2019) -
Noelle Bryggman continued an exemplary start to her rookie campaign for the Queens College softball team, with two hits and an RBI on Friday (Mar. 15) as the Knights fell by a 10-2 score to Barry at Feinbloom Field.
Friday's game capped off a nine-game week for Queens to open the 2019 season, with the Knights finishing up the week with a 2-7 record.
The Buccaneers scored three runs in the first inning against QC starter
Macy Kane before tacking on an additional four runs in the second frame. Queens came back into the fray in the top of the third inning, plating two runs to bring the score within a five-run deficit.
Marisa Sagona led things off with a walk, advancing to second on an infield single by
Nicole Michaels. Bryggman clobbered a double to the left-center field alley to send Sagona home with the first run for QC on the day; Michaels would later score on an error by Barry in the infield. The Bucs put up a three-spot in the bottom of the fifth inning to end the game via the run-rule.
Bryggman had two hits, bringing her team-best batting average to .444 with four runs batted in on the week.
Ann Grimshaw and
Gabriella Vicidomini also collected base hits for Queens in the contest.
The Knights return home to open regional competition on Wednesday (Mar. 20) with a doubleheader against Pace University in Flushing. First pitch from the QC Softball Field is set for 2:30 p.m.
