FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 27, 2019) - The Queens College men's tennis team claimed a 4-3 victory on Wednesday (Feb. 27) over ASA College in a non-conference match-up between the teams at the QC Tennis Center in Flushing.
Queens earned the doubles point thanks to a sweep of the three tandems.
Mariano Biblioni and
Lucas Demuth struck first for a 6-2 win at the third-doubles tandem while
Kareem Rashad and
Richard Sec won a 6-3 decision at the No. 1 spot over James Howard and Paulo Chiapponi to clinch the doubles point.
Cosme Jubera and
Camilo Arias triumphed via a 6-4 margin at the second-doubles position to complete the sweep.
The Avengers fought back with the first two points in singles play as Sec and Demuth both dropped their matches at the top two flights. Hugo Evangelista's 6-2, 6-4 win over Alisher Nosirov pushed Queens even at 2-all and
Jose Zurro won a 6-3, 7-6 match at fourth singles brought the Knights within a point of a victory. Biblioni would earn the overall win for the Knights with a three-set triumph (6-1, 6-7, 6-4) at the fifth flight.
The Knights will next be in action on Wednesday (Mar. 6) with a 12 p.m. showcase against Adelphi in Flushing.
