FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 21, 2019) – The Queens College men's basketball team suffered from a rough night from the floor in a 72-56 loss to Molloy on Thursday (Feb. 21) at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
Neither Queens (7-19, 7-9 ECC) nor Molloy (17-8, 13-3 ECC) got anything going in the opening minute of play as
Keenan Gorski scored the game's first points on a three-pointer; the Knights led by a 5-2 margin going into the first media timeout with just five-and-a-half minutes played in the opening period of play. Out of the break, however, Molloy went on a 7-0 spurt which included a three-pointer by Curtis Jenkins to give the Lions a 9-5 lead. It was a lead that the visitors would never lose, as Queens could not find its shooting touch from the field throughout the first half of play; the half ended with Molloy ahead by a 27-17 margin. The Lions opened the second half on an 11-3 run to further distance themselves from the Knights in the contest.
Dwayne Henry Jr. led the Knights with 14 points to go along with five steals, three rebounds and two assists.
Elijah Bovell added 13 points off the bench while Gorski had 11 points and eight rebounds.
Jordan Curtis pulled down a team-high nine boards for QC in the loss.
Jenkins led Molloy with a game-high 23 points; Mike Torre added 13 points and Justin Caldwell narrowly missed a double-double (nine points, eleven rebounds) in the win.
