Tougas and West Pace Knights in Victory Over Concordia

FLUSHING, (N.Y.): Led by the junior duo of Zorria West double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds and Lucy Tougas 15 points and seven rebounds, the Queens College women's basketball team ended a seven-game skid Saturday afternoon. The Knights toppled the visiting Clippers of Concordia College in non-conference action with a 65-50 victory. With the Win, the Knights improved to 2-7, while the Clippers moved to 1-8 on the season.

The two sides traded buckets before the Knights went on a 6-0 run led by Tougas and Tayanee Peay to take a 12-6 lead which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game.  Leading 16-11 to start the second quarter, Peay tallied five straight points for the Knights for a 21-16 advantage. The Clippers cut the lead down to three (23-20) before the Knights closed the first half on a 10-4 run to take a 33-24 lead into halftime.
Queens came out firing from all cylinders in the second half as the Knights scored seven quick points for a 40-24 lead before eventually building a 19-point advantage which was never threatened. The Knights scored consistently to close out any comeback attempt from the Clippers.

Combined four blocks, Raiana Brown brought down 12 rebounds, while Brianne Moxley produced a clinical performance scoring eight points, six rebounds and dished out a season-high seven assist to pace the Knights on Saturday. Queens tallied 22 points off turnovers and were led by 24 points from their bench. The Knights shot 38.3% on the day and held the Clippers to 23.8% shooting.

Next Game: Attention shifts to East Coast Conference play as the Knights welcome reigning ECC champions New York Tech on Wednesday (12.11.19). Tip-off slated for 5:30 PM.
