OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (Nov. 2, 2019) - Despite an early goal that proved to be the difference-maker on Saturday (Nov. 2), the Queens College women's soccer team was stringent on defense to the final whistle in a 1-0 loss at New York Tech in an East Coast Conference contest.
The Knights fell to 6-9-1 on the season with the loss and 1-5-1 in East Coast Conference play. New York Tech, meanwhile, officially clinched a playoff spot by earning its fifth conference win; the Bears are 6-6-3 overall and 5-1-2 in league games this season.
How It Happened
- The host Bears went ahead just over five minutes into the contest as Casey Luongo's clinical finish off a Maggie Thibault assist gave New York Tech the 1-0 edge.
- Queens mustered just three shots on goal in the first half and that would remain their total for the match as the Knights could not solve the defensive equations to get an attempt on goal to equalize in the second half.
Knights That Shined
- Sophomore goalkeeper Shenae Kreps rebounded nicely after allowing the game's only goal; the Idaho native posted a six-save afternoon as she lowered her goals-against average on the season to a 1.01 mark.
- Synne Flem had one of the Knights' three shots on goal against New York Tech keeper Nicole Genis. The others came from Sarah Marino and Alexis Quealy.
