FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2019) - The Queens College women's tennis team continued its run of unbeaten dominance with a 7-0 victory over Daemen College on Saturday (Oct. 12) at the Queens College Tennis Center in Flushing.
The Knights improved to 6-0 on the season and 4-0 in ECC action while Daemen fell to 0-6 overall, 0-3 in conference play.
Once again, it was doubles play that started the run for the Knights with a 6-0 shutout at the third-tandem as
Araceli Bel Aleixendri and
Gabriela Sciarotta dispatched of their opponents easily. The other doubles duos claimed 6-2 victories as
Marisa Ostoja and
Aleksandra Caricic completed their match just as
Luisa Auffarth and
Maja Makal were winning theirs at the No. 1 tandem position.
Caricic's 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth-singles started the results for the Knights and at the No. 6 flight,
Mana Koitabashi took care of her opponent by a 6-0, 6-1 margin. Sciarotta was victorious at fourth-singles by a 6-0, 6-2 result and Auffarth and Makal finished first- and second-singles, respectively, at around the same time. Auffarth won a 6-0, 6-1 match at the top flight while Makal was victorious in a 6-2, 6-1 score. Ostoja's third-singles victory closed out the match, as the 6-1, 6-4 result clinched the shutout.
Queens will host regional foe Adelphi in a non-conference bout on Sunday (Oct. 13) at 1 p.m. at the Queens College Tennis Center in Flushing.
