FLUSHING, N.Y. (Oct. 12, 2019) - The Queens College men's soccer team utilized a 24-1 shots advantage to overpower Daemen in a conference contest on Saturday (Oct. 12), winning the game by a 3-0 final score. Queens improves to 4-4-1 and 1-2 in East Coast Conference play with the win while Daemen falls to 0-11 and 0-4 in ECC action with the defeat.
How It Happened
- Queens jumped in front early thanks to a long run by Kevin Quituizaca in the fifth minute that wound up with him paying dividends on a right-footed shot past Wildcats keeper Jarrett Lecceadone.
- The Knights doubled their lead with more strong interior play as Cristian Villalta put home a fantastic shot top-left corner thanks to an assist by Emgi Gousse ten minutes later.
- QC would score one last marker in the opening stages of the second half thanks to Romario Hulea, who slotted home a penalty kick past Lecceadone for the 3-0 edge.
Knights That Shined
- Each of the Knights' goalscorers made complete impacts on the contest; Hulea and Gousse both had five shots in the game while Villalta and Quituizaca combined for another five.
- Leo Pinto showed an excellent get-up-and-go mentality in the midfield with two shots and a presence in nearly every offensive chance.
- Coming on as a late substitute, Milto Sionakides was also excellent with a pair of shots and nifty pace to keep the Wildcats' defenders on their toes.
- Daemen's lone shot went off-target, meaning an easy night for goalies Marek Strzelczyk and Joseph Weinstein as the two combined for a clean sheet.
