Box Score FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team completed its regular season slate Sunday evening with a 76-65 victory over Daemen. The win clinched the number two seed, and a first round bye, for the Knights in the upcoming East Coast Conference Championship.
In her final home contest, red-shirt senior MacKenzie Rowland provided a memorable performance, posting a triple-double with 18 points, 10 assists and 19 rebounds. Junior Madison Rowland contributed 23 points, seven steals and eight rebounds in just 25 minutes of action. Senior Kristen Korzevinski tallied 20 points and four steals in the game.
The Knights scored the game's first seven points, and never trailed in the game. With 37 seconds remaining in the first quarter, a jumper by senior Amber Harrison pushed Queens ahead 20-6, its biggest cushion of the opening 10 minutes.
The Wildcats battled back in the second quarter. Trailing 29-14 with 4:57 left in the first half, Daemen responded with a 16-4 surge to cut the deficit to 33-30 at half.
Daemen cut the lead to one in the opening minute of the third, before a 10-2 run by the home team pushed the lead back to nine. From there, the Wildcats would only get within seven the rest of the way, before QC led by as many as 18 in the fourth quarter.
Prior to tipoff, head coach Elizabeth Naumovski and the Knights honored Mac. Rowland, Korzevinski, Harrison and fellow seniors Raychel Shannon, Janeen McFarlane and Elisabeth Gully.
Sarah Saba led three players in double figures with 15 points for Daemen. The Knights are back in action Saturday, Mar. 5 in the second semifinal of the day against the winner of No. 6 St. Thomas Aquinas at No. 3 Dist. Columbia.
