White Posts Triple-Double In Win Over Roberts Wesleyan

FLUSHING, N.Y. - Queens College junior Tyree White posted an impressive triple-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists in the Knights' 79-75 victory over Roberts Wesleyan Friday evening in East Coast Conference action.  White connected on five field goals, and five attempts from the free throw line.  White, the nation's leader in steals, posted five more in the contest.

Junior Diego Maldonado tallied 20 points, connecting on eight of his 15 field goal attempts.  Senior Travis Whitfield registered 16 points and five rebounds, while junior Kyheim Chaplin had 10 points.

QC shot 47.8% from the field in the contest, a tick ahead of the Redhawks' 43.9% clip.  The Knights turned 22 Roberts Wesleyan turnovers into 29 points, and held a 43-34 advantage on points in the paint and 12-2 margin on points via fast break.

In a game that includes two ties and five lead changes, the Knights led by as many as 10 in the first half.  Trailing 29-20, the Redhawks responded with an 18-8 run over the final 6:32 of the first half to take a one point lead into intermission.

Queens opened the second stanza in a fury, scoring the first eight points to open up a 45-38 lead with 17:45 remaining.  RWC cut the deficit to two, 47-45, before the Knights regained the double digit advantage with a 10-2 charge.

The Redhawks were led by Tyrel Dixon, who scored a team best 13 points.  QC is back in action Sunday afternoon as the Knights host Daemen at 3:30 pm.
