Box Score BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - The Queens College women's basketball team moved to 13-5 in East Coast Conference action with a 64-49 victory over Bridgeport Saturday afternoon at Hubbell Gym. The Knights are now 16-8 overall, while UB fell to 8-17 on the season, and 6-11 in league games.
Junior Madison Rowland and red-shirt senior MacKenzie Rowland both registered double-doubles in the contest. Mad. Rowland posted a game-high 27 points, and pulled down a season high 17 rebounds. The Albany, N.Y. native also picked up six steals in the game, keeping her among the nation's leaders in the category.
Mac. Rowland scored 26 points on 11-for-19 shooting for the field, while also grabbing 10 boards and blocking three shots. The Knights held a 45-38 advantage in rebounds, and outscored Purple Knights 40-16 on points in the paint.
After an early 4-2 deficit in the opening quarter, QC outscored the hosts 14-5 and held a 16-9 edge after the opening ten minutes. Queens scored 20 points in the second quarter, while holding UB to 10, to extend the cushion to 36-19 at halftime.
The two teams each scored 13 points in the third quarter, as the Knights headed to the fourth with a 49-32 advantage. Bridgeport cut the deficit to nine, 49-40, early in the fourth. The Knights then closed the game on a 16-9 run, picking up the 15 point win.
The Knights are back in action Friday evening at home against Roberts Wesleyan. Tip is slated for 5:30 pm.
