Box Score ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team bounced back after a sluggish first quarter, earning a 57-49 victory over Molloy College in East Coast Conference action. With the win, the Knights improved to 14-8 overall and 11-5 in ECC, while Lions fell to 8-16 overall, and 7-9 in league action.
In the first quarter, QC scored just five points and trailed by 12 after the opening 10 minutes. From there, the Knights went on a defensive lock down for the remaining three quarters as they outscored the Lions 52-32 over the final 30 minutes of the game. Queens took its first lead of the game, 32-31, on a free throw by junior Madison Rowland with 6:44 remaining in the third quarter and never relinquished from there.
Mad. Rowland, the reigning ECC Player of the Week, continued her hot streak with a game high 23 points, while also contributing 13 rebounds and four steals. Sophomore Merrick Rowland scored 10 points, while red-shirt senior MacKenzie Rowland and Kaitlyn Mahon each chipped in seven points. Mac racked up a game-high 18 boards. The Knights shots 28.4% from the field, but held a 50-39 edge in rebounds and converted 22 points off 19 turnovers by the Lions.
Molloy was lead by Kimani Jackson, who scored 17 points. Ally Leftridge and Aliyah McDonald scored 10 points apiece.
