Box Score QUEENS, N.Y. - In the most exciting contest held this season at Fitzgerald Gymnasium, the Queens College men's basketball team fell just short to Bridgeport Monday evening 76-70.
Junior Tyree White continued his exceptional standout all-around play in the contest, finishing just short of a triple-double with 12 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds. Senior Paul Little led five players in double figures with 14 points, while junior Kyheim Chaplin had 10 points, all coming in the second half.
Bridgeport shot 49.0% (25-51) from the field, while QC connected on 43.1% (25-58) of its attempts. The Purple Knights forced QC into 23 team fouls, resulting in 31 free throw attempts for the visitors.
While the Queens bench outscored the Purple Knights' reserves 34-18, Bridgeport outscored QC 14-4 in fast break points.
The back-and-forth battle featured four ties and eight lead changes. Late in the fourth quarter, Queens held a 66-62 lead before Bridgeport scored eight straight points that put the game out of reach, ignited by a fourth-point play by Jesse Jones.
Ernest Rouse led four Purple Knights in double figures with 17 points, while Eddie Asamoah had 10 points and 13 rebounds. The Knights are back in action against UDC Thursday evening.
