QC MBB Stopped By Unbeaten LIU Post

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Junior Diego Maldonado led three players in double digits with 17 points in the Queens College men's basketball team's 81-66 loss to LIU Post Saturday evening in East Coast Conference play.

The Pioneers remained unbeaten in league play with the win, moving to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in the ECC with the win.  The Knights are now 4-6 overall, and 2-3 in league action.

Maldonado connected on five field goals in the contest, including a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the arc.  Junior Tyree White contributed 15 points, nine rebounds and five assists for QC.  Junior Carson Murphy registered his second straight double figure contest with 11 points.

The Knights were held to 37.7% shooting from the field in the game, while LIU Post shot 47.1% from the field.  LIU Post also held a 46-29 advantage in rebounds.  QC converted 18 Pioneers turnovers into 18 points, and scored 24 points in the paint.

After an early 5-0 deficit, the Knights reponded with an 11-5 charge, taking a one point advantage with 15:11 left in the opening period.

With the score even at 19, the Pioneers went on a 5-1 run which pushed LIU Post ahead for good.  Ahead 24-23, the home team went on a 14-2 run to push the advantage to 17, 48-31, sith 1:22 remaining.

Queens was only able to get within 11 in the second half, as LIU Post kept the double digit lead throughout.

LIU Post was led by Aary Bibens' 20 points, while Greg Dotson and Jared Hall each had 14 points.
The Knights return to action Tuesday evening at home against Molloy (7:30 pm).
