Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team suffered a 57-54 setback to LIU Post Saturday afternoon in an East Coast Conference matchup. The loss dropped the Knights' record to 5-6 overall, and 2-3 in league play.
Junior Madison Rowland scored a team-high 15 points, and completed a double-double with 10 rebounds to go along with six steals. Freshman Kaitlyn Mahon contributed eight points and two assists in the game.
Down 13-11 after the opening quarter, the Knights locked down defensively in the second stanza, holding the Pioneers to just four points. Offensively, QC put together a 12 point quarter and headed to the locker room with a 23-17 advantage.
The Pioneers outscored the Knights 19-17 in the third quarter, with nine points coming from Shannon Doyle, trimming the deficit to four, 40-36 after three quarters.
Four straight points by Nyasia Davis of LIU Post knotted the game early in the fourth, before back-to-back three pointers by sophomore Merrick Rowland pushed the QC advantage to six points.
The Pioneers converted two trifectas of their own to even the score with 3:36 left. With the game then even at 52 with 2:15 remaining, LIU Post closed the game with a 5-2 surge.
Davis finished with 18 points and Doyle had 15 points, for the Pioneers. The Knights return to action Tuesday evening at home against Molloy (5:30 pm).
