Box Score OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. - The Queens College men's basketball team moved to 2-2 in East Coast Conference action Wednesday evening with an 85-72 victory over NYIT.
Junior guard Tyree White posted a team-high 20 points in the contest, along with eight rebounds. Junior forward Carson Murphy scored a season high 15 points, while junior guard Malcolm Moore had 10 points. Queens outshot the Bears 45.9% to 39.3%, and held a 28-0 advantage in bench points and a 24-16 margin in points in the paint.
The Knights never trailed in the contest, and opened the game on an 11-3 surge. Late in the opening period, Queens grabbed its biggest lead of the contest, 37-20, with 2:31 left in the frame.
With 6:26 remaining in the second half, NYIT cut the deficit to seven, 68-61. White answered with a three to push the lead back to double digits. Following a pair of late NYIT technical fouls with 1:25 remaining, QC extended its lead to 82-69 and put the game out of reach with four free throws.
The Bears had four players in double digits, led by Khalif Chaplin's 20 points. Queens returns to the court Saturday at LIU Post.
