Box Score AMHERST, N.Y. - Junior Madison Rowland scored a game-high 27 points as the Queens College women's basketball team moved to 6-3 in East Coast Conference action with an 85-62 victory over Daemen Sunday afternoon.
Rowland knocked down 10 field goals, including a season best five from behind the arc in the game. Rowland also finished with eight rebounds and three steals. Red-shirt senior MacKenzie Rowland had 13 points, five rebounds and six steals in the game while senior Kristen Korzevinski had 14 points. Freshman Kaitlyn Madhon contributed a game-high seven assists.
After an early 3-2 deficit, the Knights countered the home team with a 12-2 run, opening up a 14-5 lead with 6:54 left in the first quarter. Five straight by the Wildcats cut the lead to four, 14-10, before the Knights took their first double digit lead, 22-12, with eight of the next 10 points.
QC led by as many as 18 in the second half, before Daemen trimmed the Knights' lead to 12, 43-31, at half. QC regained its 18 point lead in the third quarter, and extended its cushion to a game-high 27, 78-51, with 4:42 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Knights shot 42.3% from the field, and held the opposition to a 31.6% effort. QC shot 56.3% from behind the arc, and turned 26 Daemen turnovers into 31 points. The Knights also held a 28-12 advantage on points in the paint.
The Knights are back in action Wednesday at home, against St. Thomas Aquinas (7:30 pm).
