Women's Hoops Picks Up Third Straight Win At Roberts Wesleyan

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team defeated Roberts Wesleyan 66-56 Friday evening in East Coast Conference action at Voller Athletic Center.  The Knights have won three in a row, and are now 5-3 in league action.

Four players scored in double figures, led by red-shirt senior MacKenzie Rowland's 18 points.  Junior Madison Rowland finished with 12 points to go along with seven rebounds and five steals.  Senior Kristen Korzevinski scored 10 points while classmate Elisabeth Gully posted 10 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, with 11 coming on the offensive end.

As a team, QC finished with 53 rebounds, the third straight game the team has registered 50+ boards. The Knights turned 27 offensive rebounds into 23 second chance points.  Queens also turned 17 Redhawk turnovers into 18 points.

QC's largest lead in the first half was just four points.  Trailing 22-20 in final minutes of the first half, the Redhawks closed the opening period on a 7-2 charge, grabbing a 27-24 intermission lead.

Queens answered with the first eight points of the third quarter, taking a 32-27 advantage with 8:18 left.  The Redhawks charged back in the fourth frame, evening the game at 52 with 3:51 remaining.

The Knights answered with eight straight points, and outscored the home team 14-4 the rest of the way.  Roberts Wesleyan was led by Samantha Courtney's 20 points and 19 points from Brooke Fields.

The Knights conclude their weekend road trip Sunday at Daemen.
