Box Score 2 WEST HAVEN, CONN. - The Queens College volleyball team moved to 3-2 on the season following victories over Assumption and Georgian Court on day one at the Charger Invitational, hosted by New Haven. Against the Greyhounds, the Knights took the match in five sets before claiming game two in four sets over the Lions.
Senior Arielle DiCocco, in her first action of the season, registered a team high 20 kills over the two games, along with 13 total blocks, including seven of the solo variety. Sophomore Kristen Moore tallied 66 assists over the two games, while senior Xhesi Domi recorded 52 digs.
In the opener of the day against Assumption, the Knights dropped the opening set 25-22 before taking the next two in convincing fashion over the Greyhounds, 25-15 and 25-16. Assumption narrowly captured set four 25-23, before Queens took the final five points of the fifth set and secured a 15-10 victory in the "rubber match."
Sophomore Ragina Anthony posted 12 kills and 16 digs in the contest, while Domi registered 28 digs and Moore had 38 assists. Junior Tori Bowser and DiCocco each had 10 kills.
In game two of the day, the Knights took a marathon set one 30-28, before the Greyhounds answered with a dominating 25-12 victory in the second set. Queens closed out the contest with a 25-22 set three victory and a 25-16 win in set four.
Freshman Nicoletta DiCocco had 14 kills in the win over the Lions, while A. DiCocco had 10 kills. Moore added 12 digs to go along with 28 assists.
On day two Saturday, the Knights take on the host Chargers at 10:00 am and Post at 12:00 pm.
