Sparkill, N.Y. - The Queens College men's basketball team fell to St. Thomas Aquinas, 86-55, in a game played on Wednesday night in Sparkill, New York. Three Knights reached double-figures in scoring, led Kyheim Chaplin with 11 points. Travis Whitfield and Diego Maldonado scored ten points each.
Queens jumped out to a 9-2 lead across the first two-and-a-half minutes of action. Guilherme Brodt opened the scoring with a jumper. Maldonado made it 4-0 on a put back. After a Spartans basket, he made it 7-2 for QC with a three-pointer. STAC fought back and Kyheim Chaplin scored on a tip in to make it 14-11 at 13:57. The Spartans led at the half, 38-23.
Queens scored 32 points in the second half, but STAC won 86-55. The Knights scored 34 points in the paint.
The team is now 4-16 overall and 4-9 in the East Coast Conference. The team returns to action on Saturday, February 6, when they face Mercy in Dobbs Ferry, New York. The opening jump is slated for 2:30 PM.
