Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College men's basketball team celebrated Senior Day prior to its 98-80 loss to Bridgeport on Saturday in Flushing. Anthony Hodges and Jeremiah Mordi were honored prior to the game.
The game turned out to be an athletic contests as both sides rattled off highlight reel plays. In fact, five different Queens players reached double-figures in scoring.
QC hung with the Purple Knights early on as Hodges nailed a three and Mordi added another basket. The game remained close until Kyheim Chaplin hit a jumper at 14:07 to make the score 19-18 for Bridgeport. The Purple Knights took control from that point and led at the half, 54-38.
Bridgeport extended their lead in the second half and went on to win by 18. Mordi scored the last five points of the contest in familiar fashion: with a driving layup and a long-distance three-pointer.
In the defeat, Chaplin and Diego Maldonado led the Knights with 15 points each. Chaplin added seven rebounds, seven assists and five steals. Mordi finished with 13 and a game-high seven rebounds. Paul Little and Travis Whitfield scored 11.
The Queens College men's basketball team finished the 2014-15 campaign with a 6-21 overall mark and a 6-14 East Coast Conference record.
