Queens Men's Basketball Stopped By Mercy On The Road

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Junior guard Marquis Roberts led four players in double digits with 15 points in the Queens College men's basketball team's 74-70 loss to Mercy Saturday afternoon.

Roberts tallied his 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting, while going 3-for-3 from behind the arc.  Kyheim Chaplin posted 12 points and four rebounds in the game.

Junior guard Tyree White had his typical all around standout effort, scoring 10 points, grabbing nine rebounds, dishing out six assists while also picking up two steals and two blocks.  Paul Little was the Knights' final double digit scorer, posting 10 points in the contest.

In a back and forth first period, Queens jumped ahead 30-23 with 6:03 left in the frame on a free throw by Chaplin.  The host team answered with a 13-3 run, as Mercy held a 36-33 advantage with 3:14 remaining.

The Mavericks would hold the lead for the duration of the half, as Tyseem Lyles' layup with 1:12 left in the period push Mercy ahead 40-37 at halftime.

The Knights came out firing in the second half, opening the frame on a 12-0 charge. White's layup with 16:22 left gave QC a 49-40 cushion.

With Queens ahead 63-55, and 8:43 left in the contest, Mercy chipped away with an extended 11-2 run, taking the lead on a Lyles layup with 3:47 left.

After a pair of free throws by White gave QC a 70-69 lead with 1:28 left, the Mavericks ended the contest with the game's final five points.

Shaquille Stokes led Mercy with 25 points off the bench, while Lyles posted 17 points.
