Box Score QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior guard Tyree White registered a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds in the Queens College men's basketball team's 79-74 setback to Adelphi Saturday in game two of the weekend for the Knights at the ECC/NE-10 Challenge.
White connected on 9-of-12 attempts from the field while corralling 10 of his 13 boards on the offensive end. Junior Diego Maldonado picked up his second straight double digit effort with 12 points.
The Panthers connected on 13 three-pointers in the contest, a day after hitting 15 in a win over Dowling. Michael Coffey led five players in double figures with 17 points for the Panthers, while connecting on four three pointers.
Adelphi held the lead for the majority of the first half before QC took a 37-35 lead with 1:41 left in the period on the back of a Little 3-pointer. After a jumper by Simon Green to push the lead to 39-35 lead for the Knights, Adelphi responded with two free throws to cut the deficit to 39-37 going into halftime.
A three-pointer by Coffey 22 seconds into the final 20 minutes gave the Panthers a lead they held on for the remainder of the contest. With Maldonado cutting the lead to three with seven seconds left at 77-74, Adelphi pushed the lead to 79-74 with back-to-back free throws with five seconds remaining.
The Knights are back in action Tuesday evening at Fordham University (7:00 pm).
