Kristen Korzevinski and MacKenzie Rowland Lead Knights in 72-56 Loss to Roberts Wesleyan

Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team entered Friday's matchup with Roberts Wesleyan looking to take a stranglehold on first place in the East Coast Conference after defeating the Redhawks in Rochester earlier in the season, but it was Roberts who got the better of the Knights in a 72-56 setback.  Kristen Korzevinski and MacKenzie Rowland each had 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting for Queens.

QC fell behind 12-2 early in the contest, with the only bucket coming from Korzevinski layup with 16:59 left.  After trailing by ten at the 16:11 mark, the Knights used a 6-0 run to pull withing four points, at 12-8 with 13:50 remaining.  The six points came from two MacKenzie Rowland foul shots, an Imani Davidson basket and a bucket from Madison Rowland.  Queens would close to as close as three points in the half when Madison Rowland got a steal and made a jumper at 6:11 to make the score 27-24, Redhawks.  Roberts led at the break, 36-28.

Queens scored the first four points of the second half on baskets from MacKenzie Rowland and Korzevinski.  But the team got no closer than four points, as Roberts went on to a 72-56 win.

Joya McFarland had a game-high four assists.  Interestingly, both halves had identical scores as Roberts Wesleyan outscored the Knights, 36-28, in each frame.

QC dropped to 14-4 overall and 9-2 in the ECC.  The team gets a brief respite before facing Daemen College on Saturday at 1:30 PM in Flushing.
