Box Score Bridgeport, Conn. - The Queens College women's basketball team improved 14-3 overall and 9-1 in the East Coast Conference with a 64-56 win at Bridgeport on Sunday. The Knights had three players in double-figures in the victory.
The game, which was delayed a day due to inclement weather, had Queens just out to a 23-6 lead over the first 9:07 of game action. MacKenzie Rowland scored four points, Madison Rowland tallied seven points, Elisabeth Gully had four, Kristen Korzevinski scored four, while Imani Davidson and Melissa Fumano scored two each. QC led at the half, 33-23.
The second half saw the Purple Knights slowly chip away at the Queens advantage, eventually getting as close as three points with 6:48 left in regulation. From there, Raychel Shannon drew a foul and made both free throws to put QC up five. Just over a minute later, Korzevinski added two more on free throws and the cushion was seven. Finally, MacKenzie Rowland put the game away with a three-point-play with 0:57 left.
In the win, MacKenzie Rowland scored 17 points on 5-10 shooting. She also grabbed nine rebounds. Madison Rowland had 11 points and three steals. Korzevinski scored ten points. Gully just missed a double-double, finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Queens College women's basketball team returns to action on Friday, January 30, when they host Roberts Wesleyan at 5:30 PM. They then host Daemen on Saturday at 1:30 PM.
