Box Score

Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team forced LIU Post into 20 turnovers en route to a 77-71 victory from Fitzgerald Gym on Saturday.  The Team is now 11-3 overall and 6-1 in East Coast Conference play.

It was a back-and-forth battle early on with both sides jockeying for position.  Eventually the game would be tied at 8-8, with 13:17 left in the first half.  From there, QC got hot and used a 7-0 run to take a 15-8 advantage.  Joya McFarland hit a three and Kristen Korzevinski made a pair of layups to account for the points on the scoring spree.  QC's largest lead of the half - 11 - points, came courtesy of a Korzevinski basket at the 9:12 mark.

The Pioneers fought back from there and got as close as four points on two different occasions.  But Madison Rowland ensured that the Knights held the lead at the break with a basket with 0:34 remaining that put Queens up, 41-35.

LIU Post fought back in the second half and took their first lead of the stanza with a Jessica Little trifecta at the 10:40 mark.  On the ensuing QC possession, MacKenzie Rowland penetrated and kicked the ball to Janeen McFarlane, who buried a jumper just inside the three-point line to knot the score at 50-all.

Little answered for the Pioneers with a couple more threes, including a trifecta that put LIU Post ahead by one inside of five minutes.  Later in the half, Madison Rowland would collect a steal and find Korzevinski for a layup that put the Knights up for good, 61-60.  They went on to win 77-71.

In the victory Madison Rowland had 26 points on 9-15 shooting.  She also had six rebounds, eight assists and five steals.  Korzevinski finished with 16 points on 8-11 shooting.  Imani Davidson came off the bench to score ten points.

The QC women's basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, January 20, when they face Molloy at 5:00 PM on the road.  They face Dowling at home on Thursday.
