Amir Tarif Posts Double-Double in Loss at Daemen

Amherst, N.Y. - Senior forward, Amir Tarif posted a double-double of 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Queens College men's basketball team's 73-57 loss at Daemen.  The team is now 5-16 overall and 5-10 in the East Coast Conference.

The first five-and-a-half minutes of game action saw the Knights fall behind by eight points.  They eventually rallied and rattled off five straight points on a bucket from DeJuhan Gray and a three-pointer from Jeremiah Mordi to close within three points, at 15-12.  A Richard Council Jr. jumper at 9:28 got QC within one point, at 19-18, but the Wildcats responded with five straight points.  Ronald Washington, Jr. got the Knights as close a single point on two different occasions in the first half, but Daemen rallied over the final 5:30 of the half to lead 40-23 at the break.

A Casey Sheehan basket at 8:33 gave Daemen its largest lead of the half-23 points-and the Knights got as close as 15 points on a Kyheim Chaplin three-pointer, but the Wildcaats went on to win 73-57.

Tarif's 12 rebounds was a game-high.  Patrick Parker and Mordi each finished with 11 points for the Knights.

The Queens College men's basketball team returns home on Wednesday, February 12, when the host St. Thomas Aquinas.  The tip-off with the Spartans is slated for 7:30 PM.
