Rochester, N.Y. - Early on in the game, it loked like the Knights were headed for a loss, but a strong second half lifted Queens to a 62-56 win at Roberts Wesleyan on Friday. With the victory, QC is now 14-5 overall and 10-3 in the East Coast Conference.
The first three minutes of action saw both sides exchange baskets as Elizabeth Gully finally gave the Knights a 7-6 lead at 17:01. With 12:16 left, the game would be tied at 12-12 when MacKenzie Rowland scored a layup following an offensive rebound. From there, the Red Hawks controlled the rest of the half and led 35-24 at the half.
Kristen Korzevinski scored the first six points of the half for Queens and the Knights pulled within eight points, 39-31. Inside of nine minutes, QC nabbed the lead when Melissa Gardner scored on a put back. Roberts Wesleyan took the lead right back, but Marie Byrnes gave the Knights the lead for good when she made a three-pointer at 7:56. Queens went on to win 62-56.
Three Knights reached double-figures in scoring as MacKenzie Rowland posted a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. Korzevinski scored 14 points while Elizabeth Gully finished with 12.
The team takes a day off Saturday before facing Daemen on Sunday.
