Old Westbury, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team cruised to a 98-75 win at NYIT on Tuesday night in Old Westbury, New York. MacKenzie Rowland was one of four Knights in double-figures as she posted a triple-double with 16 points, 10 blocks and 14 rebounds. She is just one of a dozen players in the nation to post a triple-double this season.
The game would be tied on four occasions over the first 10 minutes as a Madison Rowland bucket evened the score 13-all. From there, they used a 12-2 run over the next five minutes to take a 25-15 lead. The 12 points came from Madison Rowland (six), and a basket each from MacKenzie Rowland, Kristen Korzevinski and Elisabeth Gully. After an Audrey Knowlton jumper made it 25-17, QC closed the half with a 14-10 outburst to take a 39-27 lead at the break.
The Knights saw their lead reach twenty points at 12:13 in the second haf, when a Gully free throw made the score 61-41. Queens got the lead as high as twenty-four points before going on to win, 98-75.
En route to her triple-double, Rowland shot 8-for-16 and had five assists. Her sister finished with a career-high, 38 points, on 13-of-17 shooting. Korzevinski finished with 13 points while Melissa Gardner added another double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Queens College women's basketball team closes out its regular-season on Saturday, March 1, when they host LIU Post. The game against the Pioneers will have the Senior Day ceremonies prior to the start.
