Flushing, N.Y - The Queens College men's basketball team defeated University of the District of Columbia on Wednesday night in a 77-58 blowout win from Fitzgerald Gym. The Knights improved to 7-17 overal and 7-11 in East Coast Conference play.
Patrick Parker scored a game-high 22 points on 8-for-12 shooting including seven rebounds and five assists. Jeremiah Mordi finished with 17 points and eight rebounds. Amir Tarif posted 10 points and 12 rebounds, while Dejuhan Gray chipped in 10 points.
The Knights broke an 11-11 tie at 14:25 in the first half with a Amir Tarif free throw. QC never trailed from there. Queens went on an 11-2 run during the next three minutes. After a Parker three-pointer with 2:41 remaining in the first half, the Knights were ahead, 43-28. QC had a comfortable 45-31 lead at the half.
The torrid play continued in the second half when Kyhiem Chaplin sank a three-pointer and Dejuhan Gray forced a steal which led to a transition dunk that made Queens increase the lead to 19. The Knights led by as many as 24 points after an Amir Tarif layup with 6:49 left in the game.
The Knights will play at NYIT Wednesday night February 26. Tipoff is slated for 6:00 pm
