Bridgeport, Conn. - The Queens College men's basketball team fell to Bridgeport, 89-69, in a game played in Bridgeport, Connecticut on Saturday. Jeremiah Mordi, Patrick Parker and Richard Council Jr. all reached double-figures in scoring.
The Knights had the lead two minutes into the game when Kyheim Chaplin scored on a three point play to put QC up, 3-2. The game would go back and forth from there as neither side could grab a substantial lead.
With the score tied at 21-all with 8:14 left, Mordi gave the Knights the lead with a bucket off a feed from Parker. A pair of Council foul shots made the score 25-21 with 6:24 left. The Purple Knights responded with a bucket and Queens answered with a basket from Council and a pair of Mordi free throws to make the score 29-24. Bridgeport closed out the half with a 13-5 run to lead 37-34 at the half.
Chapin opened the second half with a basket that pulled the Knights within one, 37-36. Bridgeport opened up a six-point-cushion, but another Chaplin bucket pulled QC within three, at 56-53. The final 11 minutes saw the Purple Knights pull away for the 89-69 win.
Mordi made 6-of-12 shots, while Parker shot 4-for-7 and dished out a game-high seven assists. The QC men's basketball team returns to action on Friday, February 7, when they face Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester, New York.
