Box Score Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College men's basketball team fell to 0-6 on the season with a 66-61 loss to Pace on Tuesday night from Fitzgerald Gym in Flushing. Jeremiah Mordi scored a game-high 24 points in the contest. Mohamed Dansoko came off the bench to finish with 13 points.
Diego Maldonado had the hot hand early for the Knights, scoring the first six points for QC on a pair of three-pointers. Queens trailed by five at the 15:16 mark, but rallied with buckets from Maldonado, Re'Quan Hopson and Mordi to pull to 13-12 with 13:28 remaining. QC would draw even with the setters on a Mordi three with 6:15 on the clock. On their next possession, Dansoko put them ahead, 26-24, when Mordi found him for a jumper. The Knights took a 33-30 lead into the half.
A pace bucket at 14:19 of the second half, pulled them within a single point, at 42-41 for QC. From there, the Knights used a 7-0 run to open up a 49-41 lead. Chris Leppanen found Guilherme Brodt for an open jumper. Kyheim Chaplin took a rebound coast to coast and Mordi got a steal and hit a three, to account for the seven points in the run.
Pace slowly chipped away at the lead, eventually taking the advantage with just over a minute left in regulation. They never relinquished the lead and went on to win, 66-61.
Mordi's 24-point output was his second highest total of the season, to date. He raked in 32 points in a loss to Goldey-Beacom earlier in the season. Chaplin returned from injury to score seven points and grab four rebounds.
The Queens College men's basketball team returns to action on Friday, December 12, when they travel to Rochester, New York, to open up East Coast Conference play with Roberts Wesleyan University. The opening tip with the Redhawks is scheduled for 8:00 PM.
