Three Knights Reach Double Figures in Overtime Loss to Pace

Box Score

Pleasantville, N.Y. - The Queens College women's basketball team fell to 3-2 on the season with a 64-61, overtime loss to Pace in a game played in Pleasantville, New York, on Sunday.  Imani Davidson, Joya McFarland and Madison Rowland all scored in double-figures to lead the Knights.

Both teams got off to a slow start offensively in the game as a Setters' foul shot at 17:28 accounted for the game's only point for the first four-and-a-half minutes.  Queens finally got on the board when MacKenzie Rowland found Melissa Fumano for a layup at 15:25.  A McFarland jumper at 12:03 evened the score at 4-4.  From there, QC used a 9-0 run over the next 2:09 to grab a 13-4 lead.  During that scoring spree, Madison Rowland, McFarland and Fumano all scored two points apiece, while Taylor Miller made a three-pointer.

The Setters responded with a 9-0 run of their own and eventually tied the score at 16-16 with 5:17 remaining in the half.  Queens regained the lead and held a four-point advantage when Davidson made a layup with three seconds remaining in the half to make the score 26-22 at the break.

Pace came out of the locker room and tied the score at 29-all.  McFarland later made a three-pointer to put QC up 34-29 with 15:00 left.  The Knights held a slim lead of the next ten minutes until a Madison Rowland steal and layup put them up seven with 5:16 to play.  Pace regained the lead across the final five minutes and led by two with five seconds left.  Madison Rowland beat the buzzer with a jumper from the left elbow that evened the score at 56-56, forcing the game into overtime.

Queens never lead in the extra frame as Pace went on to win 64-61.  In the loss, Madison Rowland scored 14 points, blocked three shots and had nine steals.  McFarland finished with 11 points and was a perfect, 6-of-6 from the charity stripe.  Davidson scored a team-best 16 points and shot 6-for-10.  The Knights shot 5-10 from behind the three-point line.

The Queens College women's basketball team returns to action on December 12, when they open their East Coast Conference play in Rochester, New York against Roberts Wesleyan.  The opening tip is slated for 5:00 PM.
