Box Score Lakewood, N.J. - Queens College senior, Jeremiah Mordi led the Knights with 19 points as the men's basketball team fell to Georgian Court, 61-45, in a game played at the Wellness Center in Lakewood, New Jersey on Monday night. Mordi has reached double-figures in scoring in all three contests this season.
QC trailed 6-3 over the first five minutes of action. Mordi then scored four straight points on a pair of foul shots and a layup, and the Knights led 7-6, at 13:30. 96 seconds later, Chris Leppanen hit a jumper to push the lead to 9-6. After that, Mohamed Dansoko got an offensive rebound and scored on a put back to make it 11-6 for the Knights. The Lions rallied from there and led at the half, 28-17.
Queens opened the second half with a 10-3 run to pull within four point when Mordi hit a three-pointer at 14:54, to make the score 31-27 for the Lions. Before the Mordi three, the Knights got the other points on a Matej Jurcevic jumper, another Mordi trifecta and a layup from Jurcevic. Georgian Court pulled away from there and went on to win, 61-45. The Knights are now 0-3 on the season.
Mordi was a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe and pulled down nine rebounds. Leppanen scored eight points. The Queens College men's basketball team returns to action on Monday, December 1 when they face Adelphi. The tip off with the Golden Panthers is set for 7:30PM.
