Sparkill, N.Y. - The Queens College men's basketball team fell to St. Thomas Aquinas, 78-65, in an East Coast Conference game played in Sparkill, New York, on Wednesday. Patrick Modzelewski reached double-figures in scoring for the second straight game.
The Knights fell behind immediately, trailing 11-7 over the first five minutes of action. The seven points were scored by Modzelewski (two points), Kyheim Chaplin (two points) and Amir Tarif (four points).
Just inside of ten minutes, QC was down by ten points, but they rattled off six points on a Dallas Serrano three-pointer and a three-point play from Modzelweski . The six points made the score 26-20, Spartans, with 6:58 left. Queens trailed at the half, 42-37.
The second half saw STAC pull away for the 78-65 win. Modzelewski and Serrano each scored a dozen points. Modzelewski shot 5-7, while Serrano was 4-7 and made 2-of-3 three-pointers. In his first action after a year-long hiatus, Jeremiah Modri came off the bench to lead the team with 13 points. He shot 5-9 and logged 29 minutes of action.
The Queens College men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, January 11, when they travel to Dobbs Ferry, New York, to look for their first win of the season. The tipoff against Mercy is slated for 2:30 PM.
