Box Score Bridgeport, Conn. - The Queens College
volleyball team dropped just its second match of the season on
Thursday night, as they fell to the Bridgeport Purple Knights, 3-1,
in a match played in Hubbell Gym in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
The scores of the sets were 25-18, 25-21, 19-25 and 25-16.
The Knights are now 7-2 on the year, and 1-1 in the East Coast
Conference.
The opening set saw the two sides swap the first ten points to
have the score tied at 5-5. From there, Bridgeport used a 5-0
run to take a commanding, 10-5 lead in the first set.
However, Queens responded with a 6-point run of its to take an
11-10 lead. The six QC points came from kills by Tori Bowser,
Ceren Kilic, Arielle DiCocco and an ace from Else Buchmiller; along
with a few Purple Knights errors. The score would be tied a
third time in the set, at 16-all, but eventually Bridgeport took
the opening stanza, 25-18.
Bridgeport went on and took the second set, 25-21 before the
Knights broke through and captured the third set, 25-19. The
Purple Knights put the match away by taking the fourth set,
25-16.
Arielle DiCocco had a match-best 16 kils for the Knights.
Ceren Kilic had 29 assits and Xhesi Domi recorded 16
digs.
The team returns to action on Saturday, September 28, when they
face Southern Connecticut State. The first serve is scheduled
for 5:00 PM.
