Bridgeport, Connecticut (March 6, 2013) – The Knights
women's basketball team suffered a season-ending loss at the
hands of the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights 73-60 inside
the Hubbell Gymnasium.
The 6th-seeded Knights held a first-half lead midway
through against the 3rd-seeded host Bridgeport until the
Purple Knights' Casey Bray laid up a basket and completed the
conventional three at the free throw line. The Knights tied
the game at 19 before Bridgeport went on an 11-2 to run, putting
the Knights behind 30-21 at halftime. The Knights leading
scorer in the first half was Senior guard Bria Jackson with 7
points.
In the second half, the Knights would get within 8 points of
Bridgeport before UB junior Aziza Patterson (26 total points) and
the Purple Knights built up a second half-high 19 point lead with
under four minutes to go. The Knights would knock the lead
down to 13, and fall 73-60. Jackson added 18 more points in the
second half, totaling 25 points in her first ECC playoff
contest.
