Knights Can't Overcome Early Deficit and Fall to Bridgeport, 66-62

Bridgeport, Conn. - The Queens College women's basketball team fell behind early on and despite a late rally, fell to Bridgeport, 66-62, in an East Coast Conference game from Connecticut on Saturday.  Bria Jackson (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) scored a game-high 23 points in the loss.

The Purple Knights took control of the game from the outset, racing to a 16-4 lead over the first five minutes of action.  From there, QC rallied and got as close as four points in the half, when Jackson completed a three point play at 5:54 to bring the Knights within 25-21.  Bridgeport ralied from there and took a 38-29 advantage into halftime.

The second half saw the Knights get as close as two points when a Cat Pastor (Hewlett, N.Y./Hewlett) three-point-play made the score 64-62 with 0:12 left in the game.  Queens was unable to get a steal after that, and they were forced to foul.  The Purple Knights made both free throws and went on to win 66-62.

Besides Jackson's 23, Kristen Korzevinski (New Hyde Park, N.Y./New Hyde Park) finsihed with 19 points, while Pastor collected a game-high 14 rebounds and dished out a team-best four assits.

The Knights return to action on Wednesday, February 20, when they host UDC from Fitzgerlad Gym.  The game with the Firebirds is slated for 5:00 PM.
