BOX SCORE
Bowie, Md. - A year ago when Bowie State came into Flushing, Bria Jackson finished with a school-record 49 points, including a buzzer-beater that was featured on ESPN. The Knights ended up beating the Bulldogs that day in double-overtime. A season later, the Bulldogs took the rematch, 64-50, in a much less dramatic game in Bowie, Maryland on Saturday.
It looked good early on for Queens, as they broke a 4-4 tie when Kasheema Besley got a steal and found Marie Byrnes for a three-pointer at the 14:37 mark. Five minutes later, Besley hooked up with MacKenzie Rowland for two of her game-high 18 points to keep QC up by four. The two teams went into the half tied at 31-all.
The second half opened with a 16-0 Bulldogs run over the first 6:57 of game time and the Knights never recovered. Queens got as close as eight points, at 50-42, when Besley made a layup with 8:31 remaining, but Bowie State went on to win, 64-50.
MacKenzie Rowland scored a game-high 18 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Her sister Madison scored nine points and pulled down a game-best 13 rebounds.
The Knights return to the hardwood on Wednesday, December 11, when they face Dowling on Long Island. The tip-off with the Golden Lions is slated for 5:00 PM.
