Patrick Parker Scores a Game-High 17 in Loss to Dowling

Oakdale, N.Y. - Patrick Parker led all scorers with 17 points, but the Queens College men's basketball team fell to Dowling, 60-50, in a game played in Oakdale, New York, on Wednesday.  The team is now 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the East Coast Conference.

The first nine-and-half minutes of action in the game saw Dowling build a 13-5 lead, as QC saw buckets from Amir Tarif and Patrick Parker in that stretch.  The gap widened to 15 points, 22-7, but the Knights used an 8-2 run to pull within nine, at 24-15, with 3:07 left in the half.  The eight points in the run came from a Tommie Starkes free throw, a Parker trifecta and buckets from Richard Council, Jr. and Tarif.  Starkes beat the buzzer for the final layup of the half, and QC trailed 30-21 at the break.

The second half saw the Knights get within six points, at 16:32, on a pair of Parker foul shots.  The Golden Lions pushed the lead back up to double-digits from there, but Queens got it back within eight points, 50-42, when Tarif scored two of his 11 points on a free throw at the 5:52 mark.  Dowling went on to win 60-50.

Tarif (11 points) and Parker (17) were the only Knights to reach double figures in scoring.  Tarif added eight rebounds.

The Queens College men's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, December 14, when they welcome Bridgeport into the Fitzgerald Gym.  The tipoff with the Purple Knights is slated for 5:30 PM.
