Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The Queens College men's basketball team fell was looking for its first win of the season on Saturday, but they fell to Molloy, 69-50, in an East Coast Conference game from Rockville Centre, New York. Patrick Parker and Jason Henry led the Knights with 13 points apiece.
The first six minutes of action saw both sides share baskets before being tied at 6-6 at the 13:54 mark. The Knights baskets came from Parker free throws, a Henry layup and an Amir Tarif layup. Later in the half, the game would be tied a second time when Kyheim Chaplin made a bucket at 10:18 after a Ronald Washington, Jr. steal.
From there, the Knights used a 12-2 run over the next 2:01 to take a 21-11 lead. The Queens baskets came from Jason Henry (a three-pointer), Chaplin, Henry again and four points from Parker. The Lions responded with a 15-4 run to close out the half with a 26-25 lead.
Tommie Starkes, Jr. buried a three-pointer with 14:36 left in the second half to even the score at 36-all. Molloy pulled away from there for the 69-50 win.
For the Knights, Tarif finished with nine points and 11 rebounds, Chaplin was a perfect three-for-three from the field and finished with seven points.
The Queens College men's basketball team returns to action on Wednesday, December 11, when they face Dowling on the road. The tipoff is slated for 7:00 PM.
