Rowland Sisters Combine for 45 Points in 69-47 Win at Nyack

Nyack, N.Y. – The Queens College women's basketball team improved to 3-1 on the season with a 69-47 win at Nyack on Saturday.  MacKenzie Rowland scored 22, while sister, Madison Rowland totaled  a game-high 23, as the pair nearly outscored the entire Warriors team.  The Knights also forced 24 Nyack turnovers.

The Knights took control early on, as both sides exchanged baskets to open the game.  From there, Queens used an 11-0 run to open up a 13-2 lead.  In that run, Madison Rowland scored nine points and MacKenzie added the other two.  The Warriors scored a basket to make it 13-4, but Kirsten Korzevinski buried a three-pointer and QC was up 16-4 at the 13:54 mark. 

Four-and-a-half minutes later, the Knights pushed the lead to 17 when MacKenzie Rowland made it 27-11 by sinking a pair of free throws.  Queens pushed the lead to 25 points when a Korzevinski jumper at 5:43 made it 37-12.  QC led at the half, 44-22.

Nyack never challenged the Knights in the second half.  In fact, QC built a game-high, 28-point lead, when MacKenzie Rowland sank two free throws at 14:49 to make the score, 54-26.

In the win, Madison Rowland shot 10-for-18, grabbed four rebounds and had six steals.  Korzevinski came off the bench to make three of her four shot attempts.

The Knights return to action on Tuesday, November 26, when they open East Coast Conference play at home against NYIT.  The tip-off with the Bears is slated for 6:30 PM.
