Orangeburg, N.Y. - The men's basketball team fell to host, Dominican College in the final day of the Daniel Sullivan Tournament, 85-59. Patrick Modzelewski led the starters with 10 points and Amir Tarif had a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Queens got on the board in the first minute of action as George Holmes drove through the paint for a layup. They scored again at h 16:07 mark on a pair of foul shots from Patrick Parker. Over the next six-and-a-half minutes of game action, the Knights managed only six points, with all six coming from Tarif. After being down 14 points with 2:36 left in the half, QC rallied and used an 8-3 run to trail 40-29 at halftime. The run was keyed by a pair of baskets from Ronald Washington, Jr. a free throw from Richard Council, Jr., and a three-pointer by Holmes at the buzzer.
The second half saw the Chargers grow their lead. The Knights got as close as 11 points, at 56-45, when Tommie Starkes, Jr. got a steal and went coast-to-coast for the basket. From there, Dominican put the game away, building a lead as high as 27 points, but winning by 26.
The Queens College men's basketball team returns to the hardwood on Saturday, November 30, when they open up East Coast Conference play at Molloy.
