Box Score Rockville Centre, N.Y.- The Queens College volleyball team got back over the .500 mark with a 3-2 win over Molloy College in Rockville Centre, New York on Tuesday. Else Buchmiller and Ceren Kilic each had a double-double as the Knights won in five sets, 25-19, 19-25, 25-14, 19-25 and 15-13. This was Kilic's third straight game with a double-double.
The opening set saw the Knights jump to a 3-1 lead on strong serving from Angela Kranz and a Buchmiller kill. The teams traded points and were eventually tied at 9-9 when QC started pulling away. Queens got the lead up to eight points, at 20-12, when Xhesi Domi set up Buchmiller for another kill. Molloy got as close as five points, but the Knights took the opening stanza, 25-19, on a Buchmiller kill.
The Lions roared back in the second set to win it, 25-19. Both sides took small leads before the other teams responded. The scores were tied on two occasions in the set, at 9-9, and again at 18-18. From there, Molloy scored two straight points forcing Queens to call a timeout. After the respite, the Lions scored again before QC responded with a point. Molloy closed out the set with three straight points.
Set three saw Queens jump to an 8-2 lead led by a pair of Francesca Indoni kills and strong serves from Arielle DiCocco. Molloy got back into it and pulled within 11-8. From there, QC took charge of the set with an 11-0 run. Domi served for all 11 points of the spree. The Knights put the set away when Kilic set up Indoni for the kill.
The fourth set went to Molloy, 25-19. The set saw the two sides tied on eight occasions; the final tie game at 14-14. The Lions put the set away on an Alley Stefanovski kill and forced a fifth set.
For the second straight time, the Knights went to a fifth set, but this time they came out on top. The Knights won the match on an Indoni kill.
Buchmiller earned her double-double with an 11 kill, 12 dig performance. Kilic had 33 assists and 18 digs. The Knights return to action on Saturday, November 2, when they face LIU Post on Long Island.
