Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. (January 26th, 2013) – The
Knights women's basketball team won their season-high third
game in a row against the Mercy Mavericks 63-47 to move to
4-5 in the East Coast Conference.
The first half of the game went the Knights way, as they led
Mercy 36-26 at halftime. Led by senior Bria Jackson's 14
first-half points as well a three-point basket from three different
Knights- Jackson, sophomore Marie Byrnes and freshman Kristen
Korzevinski- the offense was rolling. The Knights also picked up 5
offensive boards, while Mercy picked up 1 in the half. On the
defensive side of the ball, the Knights cleaned the glass 19 times
while Mercy had 10 rebounds defensively.
The Knights started the 2nd half on an 8-0 run and
never looked back. Jackson added eight more points in the
2nd half, which gave her a team-high 22 for the day
against Mercy. The Knights outrebounded Mercy in the 2nd
half, ending the day with 13 offensive and 33 defensive
rebounds.
The Knights women's basketball team will return home on
Wednesday, January 30th to take on the NYIT Bears at the
Maurice FitzGerald Gymnasium at 5 PM.
