Flushing (N.Y.) January 16, 2013 – The Knights
men's basketball could not get past the University of
Bridgeport Purple Knights, losing the game 77-66 to fall to 2-4 in
the East Coast Conference.
The Knights and Purple Knights fumbled the ball around turning the
ball over a combined 11 times before reaching the midway point of
the first half. As the ball kept changing hands, the
lead stayed with the same team throughout the half, as Bridgeport
took a 40-25 lead into the locker room, thanks to guard Darian
David's 14 points. The Knights got first-half production from
Patrick Parker, who netted three field goals and
one three-pointer to total a first half of eight
points.
In the second half, the Knights were
unable to hold up Bridgeport's offense until midway through
the half, when they narrowed the deficit to 10. As the defense
tried to fend off David and Bridgeport, Daniel Watson and George
Holmes tried to take an elementary approach to the game putting up
a combined 21 points and eventually lowered the deficit to nine,
before UB won by 11.
The Knights will end their three game homestand against Roberts
Wesleyan at the Maurice FitzGerald Gymnasium on Saturday, January
19th at 4 PM.
