Springfield, Mass (September 1, 2012)-The Knights opened up the
2012 season at the American International Invitational in
Springfield, MA. Though QC recorded an impressive team
hitting percentage of .297 – topping St. Anselm's .197
– the Hawks outscored the Knights, winning by a final score
of 3-1. Two Knights hit double-digits in kills, with freshman
Arielle DiCoco and senior Suzanne Byrne recording 12 and 13
respectively. Senior, Erin Eckes added 18 digs.
QC jumped off to a strong start in their second match, taking
the first set, 29-27, from Southern Connecticut. The Owls
persevered however, taking the next three sets 24-26, 19-25, and
16-25. Ceren Kilic accumulated 40 assists and 11 digs while
Suzanne Byrne logged 14 kills and 21 digs. Freshmen, Else
Buchmiller and Arielle DiCoco recorded double-digit kills with 12
and 10 respectively.
The Knights will look for their first win of the season on
Tuesday, September 4 at 7pm, as they take on Nyack at home.
