Men's Basketball Wraps Up 2011-12 Campaign at Dowling

OAKDALE, N.Y. - Senior forward Khalil McDonald wrapped up his collegiate career with a 26-point, 12-rebound double-double Saturday afternoon, as the Queens College men's basketball team rounded out its 2011-12 campaign with a narrow 74-69 loss at the hands of host Dowling College.

McDonald (Queens Village, N.Y.), who is just the 11th player in QC history to accumulate over 1,000 career points (1,109) and 500 rebounds (575), and classmates Nana Boateng (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Edil Lacayo (Bronx, N.Y.) all wrapped up their careers by playing in 100-plus contests. The trio helped head coach Kyrk Peponakis's Knights to the East Coast Conference semifinals in the previous two seasons (2009-10, '10-11).

McDonald shot 10-for-17 from the field against the Golden Lions, while Lacayo (856 career points) came off the bench to pour in 15 points. Junior forward Daniel Watson (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) entered double figures with his 10-point, six-rebound outing, while Boateng scored nine markers in his collegiate finale.
